I suppose one couldn't call this strictly a "wearable", but here goes anyway. Briefly, I'd like to "build a better mousetrap", as it were. Briefly, I'd like to put together a talking computer (running Linux) in a small package, probably using a Doubletalk card (www.rcsys.com). I figure if I'm going to shell out a bunch of money, I may as well get some power for it rather than buying something like the braille 'n Speak or Type 'n Speak (www.blazie.com), which is proprietary, underpowered, and...expensive. Anyway, wondering if anyone has a source for either laptop cases with keyboards or else somewhere that sells broken laptops (good for gutting)? Basically, I'm thinking the best way to go is a standard keyboard input, but I don't know of small footprint keyboards that i could use other than the above-mentioned laptop, and...well...I don't need a screen...but will need somewhere to actually put things like boards (maybe PC-104 type, but I'm not very picky about that, so long as you can get decent battery life...)
