The Basic Stamp (tm), AFAIK, is like an EEPROM controller encodable in Basic
(yes, I realize that its a step down). Try Radio Shacks Site, Thats where I
first heard of it. In can controll a variety of things, Such as LCD displays,
and its encodable and interface-able via RS-232 input.
My basic I idea is this : Gat a Usable LCD, and write a bit of software on my
one of my old Palmtops to interface with the LCD via the Basic stamp hardware.
I suppose you'd callit a binocular one, or more aplty, a monocular. I've got
2 ideas running. One involes the 'periscope' idea, with a mirror reflecting
the image into my eye, and the other one it really 'far out'. I went to a
toy store and bought a Tigher Electronics "R-Zone" headgear set. Its a video
game system that projects a red image onto a relector, which bounces it into
your eye. Its quite readable, 'cept in direct sunlight. it uses LCD
'cartridges' to creat shadows on the relection plate. So, I though to
myself, what if I put my own LCD cardridge in? Either way, i could build a
HUD-ish thing for a lot less than a Private Eye set or a liquid Vision M1.
