My impression is that Adaptec was working on a fire-wire pcmcia card
specifically for Mac Powerbooks, and there is in fact a firewire adapter
on some powerbooks (or you can add it) but it doesn't appear to be a
pcmcia card.
Did you look at:
http://www.firewire.org/ ?
My second impression is that the interest in Firewire has diminished,
and things like Fibre Channel and USB have taken the spotlight. It may
be a dead technology (Just my opinion).
