MODERATED GROUP COMP.SYS.WEARABLES

CHARTER: comp.sys.wearables

A forum for the creation and distribution of wearable computer systems and
their software as well as for the dissemination of knowledge on these
subjects. Appropriate topics of discussion would include choosing the
architechture and O/S for a wearable system; product preferences including
quality, specifications and applications; methods of constrution; and
courses of study. Posting binaries is discouraged, technical diagrams
necessary to the construction of systems and other such binaries should be
accessed via a link to an FTP or Web site.

Posts on semi-wearables, such as pen systems and PDAs should be posted to
their respective newsgroups, not comp.sys.wearables.

Commercial advertisements, political discussions (except those dealing
with the acceptiblity of wearable systems), flames, etc. are not
appropriate in this group. The general "netiquette" FAQs posted in
news.announce.newusers and news.answers all apply to comp.sys.wearables.

Commercial advertisements for wearable and related products and services
may be allowed at the human moderators' discretion, but will be generally
prohibited.

Moderation Policy

The moderation policy will combine robo-moderation and a moderation
group to set standards for discussion. The group will also issue a
monthly posting listing the groups charter and posting guidelines.

The robo-moderator shall search every submission to comp.sys.wearables
for certain trigger words, forwarding any submissions containing these
trigger words to the panel of human moderators for review. The list of
trigger words is maintained by the moderators, who will add words as
needed and at the moderators' discretion. Moderators will then review the
article
and promptly post it to comp.sys.wearables provided it is consistent with the
charter for comp.sys.wearables. In addition to discussion of wearables as
outlined above discussion of the charter itself for comp.sys.wearables, the
moderators, moderation policies, and related groups and the differences
between this group and related groups, and the formation of new groups
similar to or derived from comp.sys.wearables is acceptable, but subject to
the moderators' discretion.

An express poster list will be maintained to allow known posters to the group
(such as the moderators) to be posted automatically. Submissions
from those not on the express poster list, will be subject to trigger word
checks and human moderation as discussed above. Posters can be added to or
removed from the express posting list by any moderator.

If a post is rejected by both the robo-moderator and the human moderators a
message may be sent to the poster to explain the reasons for rejection.

Only one moderator need accept an article for it to be posted to the
comp.sys.wearables. In the event that a single human moderator strongly objects
to a
post, they may block posting by sending a message to all moderators and
requesting a discussion of the post. If there is concensus that the message
should not be posted (if at least 50% of the moderators objects to the post)
it will not be posted.

The initial moderation group will be composed of those listed below in the
moderator
information section.

Additional moderators may be recruited from the readership as
demand warrants. If a moderator wants to retire from the moderation
panel, he or she agrees to make a public statement at least one month
prior to retirement so that a replacement moderator may be found. When
vacancies occur, anyone may volunteer to become a moderator or advisor
with the consent of more than half of the current moderation panel.
Moderators or advisors may be removed by a vote of two-thirds of the
moderation panel. Moderators may request to be put on inactive status
due to personal demands. If this inactive status exceeds six months,
the moderator position will be considered vacant, and a replacement
may be sought.
