Pre-Doc Position/Research Staff Member Position

The IBM Zurich Research Laboratory, Information Technology Solutions
Department, is offering 

	- a Ph.D. student position (M.Sc. or Diploma in Computer Science or a
	  related field required) and
	- a Research Staff Member position (Ph.D. in Computer Science or a
	  related field or considerable work experience required)

for its DEAPspace project.

Our work in the DEAPspace project investigates the issues of ad-hoc,
proximity-based networking of small (embedded) gadgets and information
appliances (both worn on the body as well as in the environment) and of
applications that use the features of such networks.

The applicant should have a good knowledge in at least one of the areas of
operating systems, distributed computing, or networking. Also, we expect the
applicant to have good programming skills. We are looking for persons that are
creative, willing to shape the future, and favor hands-on-research work over
paper tigers.

The IBM Zurich Research Laboratory offers a unique environment in Europe,
aiming at high quality research. We employ some 200 people from more than 20
countries and work closely with IBM development organizations in the USA and
in Europe, as well as with academic and industrial research organizations.
