The Ruputer is watch from Seiko Japan that runs a kind of DOS, I assume compatible with MS-DOS/DR-DOS, etc, with rather low resolution and built in apps in Kanji Japanese. you can write your own apps, and it comes with a built in serial and IR ports. (not positive on the IR) It uses a Thinkpad like yellow pointer and 4 other buttons for navigation and selection. it comes in 512K and 2mb models and is available at http://vtzone.ado.co.jp/home.html you can get more info in japanese at www.ruputer.com and there are some english sites out there too. I don't see why you can't go the Newton Keyboard route like everyone has with everything else from HP200lx's to WindowsCE to Pilot as this thing has a serial port so you just need to write the driver and there you go, even a twiddler since it is alreay serial. Great for cheating I suppose if you like that kind of thing, since my Newton 130 has only a little bit more memory, and I know how much you can fit in there, when it is only text. pretty nice, and a SDK is available.
