Not directly what you are asking for, but I met someone who was using a
scanning dictionary, called the Quicktionary, made by Seiko. You can look at
http://www.seiko-usa-cpd.com//quicktionary.htm to see what I mean. 
I wonder how well those things work! (and what kind of logic they use).
