Hi,
I've been a software goddess for two decades now. But I just
don't
feel myself or feel properly dressed being out in so many places without
any computer support/companionship at all. It is high time to correct
that. So these are my dream machine specs. Please let me know of
leads for doing such. I've found a few likely pieces and sources which
I'll post as time permits. But if almost all of this is off-the-shelf
somewhere or other I can trade some $$$ for time and learning more
hardware hacking myself.
Ideal system
-------------
Linux based (what else);
At least 200 mhz;
At least 64 M memory, preferably 128;
4 - 6 gig micro hard-disk and/or
maybe big flash card (like IBM 496 M);
cellular with full communication package including cellular modem;
ear-buds with mike;
voice recognition or a solid trainable beginning (open/source);
good serviceable display, preferably clip-on or better, at least 640 x
480;
X-windows;
some keyboard input (twiddler or equiv maybe) or very light data gloves.
The main units shouldn't take more than two smallish boxes no more than
2x12x10 cm or so. Most likely with cpu, main memory, some battery in
one box and hd, flash, cellular and more battery in the other. But how
much battery power will I need and what is out there?
I like to spend no more than $3K for the entire thing but can be tempted
to go a bit higher.
Any informaiton much appreciated. How close can I get these days? Tips
on missing things or screwy parts of my dream list also appreciated.

Resistance is futile.
