>Hey, all. > >This is somewhat off-topic (unless you want to use smart cards to >control access to your wearable ;) ), but this is one of the more >technically savvy lists I'm on, so I figured I'd try here first. > I've collected infos on how (hardware/software) to access memory and smartcards at: http://www.kom.e-technik.tu-darmstadt.de/~rac/personal/HOWTO/SMARTCARDS/smartcards.html The "low level" software you will have to choose depends on the hardware that you're using for interfacing the card. On top of that: * MUSCLE (and tools they reference like the towitoko driver or scez) have prooven to work very well for me * on top of any "lower layer" (like a PC/SC interface) you might also consider using the Java based OpenCard Framework (OCF) Btw - are you really try to use "smartcards" (with a dedicated (crypto) processor) or do you want to focus on simple memory cards (which may have simple access control support (e.g. PIN) as well? In a wearable scenario they are definetely worth considering for storing "user profiles" or "personalizing" a device. regards ralf >I've searched around, but the best-looking tool I've seen is the Smart >Card Simulator, and I don't want to simulate a smart card environment, I >want to poke around on the cards I have. >The Microsoft Smart Card SDK comes with the Platform SDK, but I'm on a >modem and can't download several hundred megs just for that (I'd also >rather not have to write a utility just for this at the moment).
