Emacs font size?

I read somewhere that you need to increase the font size in emacs to be able
to read it using the M1. Can you do this in the normal console version of
emacs? I don't really want to run X. Also, can you change the font size of
the console itself easily? I know how to change the font, but the standard
install (Redhat 6) doesn't come with any really large fonts. I know I sound
like a newbie--i've been using windows all my life and I don't know that
much about linux yet...but I am learning. :)

Thanks!

Joseph Near
