There are serial-port controlled audio/video switches designed especially
for applications like this. http://www.vtx.co.uk/info.htm for example. You
end up with a single video input, switched on your serial signal from
whichever source you desire.

In either case, you want a BT-series video capture card for maximum
OS flexibility - see www.livid.org for details.
