Re: hardware selection help

PC104 is good, you can use laptops and the pieces are usually readily and
cheaply available. Fortunately, since it is a car and not a belt, you have
a little more room to work with.

I have not had much experience inside beetles, (i.e. don't know where to
hide pieces of equipment) But you should easily be able to make an area in
the trunk that is set aside for the computer since the car is relativly
short....

If you intend to run the car 24/7 let me reccomend making the hardware go
into serious sleep mode, or else you will run down your battery, I also
reccomend AGAINST taking the easy way out and using a 12-120 inverter to
power your machine.

I've always used dissasembled laptops in my car installations due to their
low power comsumption and built in power saving....never tried something
that had four videos.... i'm sure there is something out there though....

Perhaps use usb for the video? I know that linux usb support is kind of
unstable, but I have met people who have been able to get it to work for
mice etc.... Then you could add more cameras easily, and would not need
as many cards... a single usb port-> a four way hub-> four cameras.....

anyway, good luck......
