Guys, I have done a lot of research on HMDs, and I'm quite discouraged by the choices out there. What I really want is a Glasstron PLM-S700 or a Micro-Optical Clip-On, but can't afford them right now. I finally gave in and bought an M1 Personal Viewer. My first impression is that the screen looks quite small, the text appears tiny, and the eyepeice is a lot bigger than I'd like. This is going to take a while to get used to. There seems to be a lot of M1 users out there, so I am hoping you can give me some advice on getting oriented with the M1. I have a bunch of questions. - Are people really using the M1 as a replacement for traditional monitors on a regular basis, or just for periodic use? Can you use it comfortably for extended periods? - The manual says it runs off 9 volts, and I have a power adapter, but how do I power the unit when mobile? Is there an internal regulator that allows for different input voltages, and if so what is the acceptable range? - What do I have to do to increase the font size in the linux console? What sizes are you using? - Is there a separate font configuration for emacs or does it inherit the console font settings? - Is anyone using the M1 with x-windows, or is it only used for console based applications? - Has anyone ripped apart the eyepeice to see what is inside? Any idea if this can be hacked to make it smaller? I am disappointed with the length of the eyepeice ... Thanks in advance. -- Doug
