Thanks, I did not have the URL on tap.

Most likly a variant of the same chip, not sure what the "BE" is, but
the rest is the same.

Color coding only works if you can see... If you want to go for
"uber-geek" status you have to be able to swap batterys blindfolded.

Actully, there have been quite a few times that I needed my eyes
elseware when swapping batteries. Here is what works for me:

For the sony's I took a small peice of thin plastic (hobby store) and
traced the end that you plug in to on it (I then cut it down, being as
tall as the sony was overkill). I made it a bit wider on the end
where the mini-bananas go. Then I drilled two holes for the bananas,
and a few other holes for strain releif, ran the cord through the
holes, soldered it up. Now I can't plug it in to the sony backwards
unless I really *try*. I will take a photo and post it later today
along with the M1 case cosmetc mods.

I really like the hypertronic connectors. You can get them from
newark electronics:

96F3242 4-pin plug
96F3243 4-pin receptacle (panel mount)

(Thanks to a note from Cliff Leong I just happen to have the part
numbers here...)

They lock in place and are keyed. I use them as follows:

Power Cable
-----------
Case side - 4 pin Hypertronics socket with pins
Cable side - 4 pin Hypertronics plug with sockets

1 - GND
2 - GND
3 - Battery +
4 - Battery +

I know of a few folks using them for their twiddler connection as
follows (thanks to Dan Ashworth for the pinouts on the twiddler - I
don't use one)

Twiddler Cable
--------------
Case side - 4 pin Hypertronics socket with sockets
Cable side - 4 pin Hypertronics plug with pins

T1 - First twiddler, colors as on website (orange, yellow, brown, red)
T1a - Second twiddler, different colors (black, red, unshielded, brown) -
**ground is cable ground (shielded at twiddler end) and does NOT
    actually go to ground**

HT Pin# | Serial # | Twid Pin # | Color (T1) | Color (T1a)
----------------------------------------------------------
   1 | 9 (GND) | 1 | orange | black
   2 | 7 (DTR) | 3 | brown | ground
   3 | 3 (RxD) | 4 | red | brown
   4 | 10 (+5v) | 2 | yellow | red

Use it if its useful,

Greg
