I am familiar with MFD (all capitals) meaning MicroFarad, but I thought
that usage was really dated. :)

Nowadays it's pretty normal to substitute a lower-case u for the 'micro'
symbol.. i.e: 100uF.  In this sense case _is_ important, as it should be.
