(assuming that the timeport is similar to the star tacs) Anyone got their star tac phone working with a linux box? I am looking to use the digital side of the phone only (requires the serial cable for $79 [!], don't want to spend $369 on the modem ;) what I have: pc110 w/ 2 PCMCIA slots, cannot access the serial ports (no dock) :( star tac 7760 w/ Bell-Atlantic service (does digital+analog) (I heard digital wireless data on this may not work) Bryan, are you just using a Hayes command set to talk to the phone through the serial port? thanks, Prashant On Thu, 3 Feb 2000, hurley bryan wrote: > > > just got the motorola timeport phone, hooked it up to a dos box and telix > and am posting this from there, I don't know how fast I am connected, have > to try under windows, but its definitely 14.4 or under, ok for pine email, > but probably not much else. > > 3 phones available: > Timeport $299 with connection kit, and truesync software:so you can > download numbers to the phone > > Talkabout $249 > Startac Dual Band wireless web $229 > these are all the same phones except for packaging, you can buy the cable > kit seperately for $99 but it doesn't come with the truesync software I am > told. > > plugs into a 9 pin serial port so should work with most devices and > doesn't need any drivers, though maybe it is faster with the proper > drivers, but I would doubt it. > > I have no affiliation with Sprint, just an FYI. > > Bryan > > -- > Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with subject of > "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" to> Wear-Hard Mailing List Archive (searchable): http://wearables.blu.org > > -- Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with subject of "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" to
