Here's what I am planning to do on my wearable (assuming I ever get the
money together to start):
1. Build a small distro like you have, except mine will be LFS
(linuxfromscratch), because I'm a sick bastard.

2. Install all my development tools on a seperate, hot swappable, external
drive. (Jaz, zip, cd, etc etc etc)

3. Create appropriate symlinks, mount points, path settings, etc on my
main drive, so compiling will be transparant when I have the external
storage hooked up, and give a big pile of errors when I don't :)

I am hoping that this will be feasable; having built the system from
scratch myself I will most likely have a better idea what is where, etc,
so I won't have as much trouble getting this working.

My design in progress is changing constantly, but I figure now's as good a
time as any to lay down my basic plan for my wearable and see what
everyone thinks:

Core: MZ104 from tri-m. The power consumption kicks ass, its got barely
enuff power, I think, to squeeze out some MP3 playing capability.

HMD: Hacked Canon GT-270. These things have a great resolution, at only
3w power consumption, hopefully that will go down even more when I hack
off one of the displays. Hopefully I will be able to make it covert

Input: wireless RF keyboard hacked to chord using linux kernel driver

Sound: USB audio. Only need to have it hooked up when I specifically
want it (read: mp3's). This should save on power.

Network: Hmm, I'm still working on this one... I need the equivalent of
an orinico gold wavelan card, but I would prefer to see if I can get away
without adding a PCMCIA board.

External storage: Probably USB based, again not sure.

Power: good ole NP960's

Drive: Microdrive. I am still a bit confused, but from what I
understand, this can be connected to IDE ports as well as CF, with the
proper adaptor, right?

Well that's all thats popping into my head at the moment, but I am sure I
will come up with some more as time goes by, and I also change my mind
about once a week.
