Hey Graham, > I am On a University Electronic Engineering Degree and therefore I am very > interested in Computers. Hey I guess I'm in pretty much the same position as you, doing my B.Sc. (Honours) in Electronics from the University of Delhi and deep into Electronics in general, Computers and Robotics in particular. > I have recently become very interested in the idea of having a Wearable > computer with Linux/windows on it?? Unfortunately as I am a Student I > would not like to spend a great fortune on such a system. Here in India, the problem of ready availability of parts for wearable use is quite acute. Getting things shipped here from the US is like a non-option with all the hassels (and costs) involved. Still I am quite optimistic about building a wearable. My current plan is to use an old, cheap laptop (if I can find one) and build my own display and keyboard by hacking through my personal organizer. I know this means a lot of concerted hard work but when hobby and passion are behind some project, it has to work out :) Help from anybody out there in adapting a 60x32 LCD display and a personal organizer keyboard to wearable use would be great! > Basically I am looking to produce a simple system 386/486 that would run > Linux or a simple windows 3.11?? but as I am quite new to this idea I am > looking for advice as to what I require and where I may be able to get it > from. ditto here... <G> > I am very confident that I could be able to assemble a system with the > correct advice and components but if there is anyone out there on the net > who may be able to put together a simple system or has an old used system > they no longer require and would be able deliver it to me I would be quite > great full and of course would pay the required cost of the system + > Postage and personal prophet (remember though I am only a student) I've been lurking in ths list for some months now and I'm sure that with the support of the wonderfully helpful ppl on this list we will be able to make it big... in due time :) > Thank you any advice/offers will be appreciated > Graham Cannell () Right now all I can offer is open discussions of the progress that I make with my wearable project.
