Shipping an 8-pound package from the US to India, (Rough guess of the
weight of "a cheap laptop"), runs $22.59USD (customs fees may raise that
number) == 982.66 Rupees.

I can get 486 laptops for $100 pretty easily.  386 laptops go on eBay
for as little as $25 or so.  If you want only part of the laptop, that
can be arranged.  (i.e. if you want the screen removed to lighten the
machine.)
