Anyone have experience with compact flash type I interface modems?

such as
http://www.pretec.com/index2/product/Mobile_peripherals/CompactModem.
htm

http://www.vikingcomponents.com/products/56kcfmodem.cfm

Some of the reviews i've read indicate they its a power hog for people using
it with their pda/handhelds.

Both say they support dos, win 3.1->98

Any word on Linux support?
