Merlin for Ricochet on Linux?

I noticed that Fry's Electronics is now selling Merlin for Ricochet PCMCIA
cards for $299. Looking at my Ricochet SX and GS modems, it sure would
be nice to replace them with a small PCMCIA card. It would require me
adding the PC/104 PCMCIA module on my CPU board, but that module
is smaller than the traditional ricochet modems. Has anyone used Merlin
for ricochet on linux? Does it appear as just a serial modem to the system?

I seem to be all over the map with wearable tech. I have done a lot and
tried a lot, but I'm still missing some very basic things. Still waiting for
a VGA or better resolution HMD (maybe e-Glasses or Cy-Visor), smaller
wireless modem (perhaps merlin for ricochet will solve that), and a truly
covert camera (maybe Don's frame grabber with a pinhole NTSC camera
will be the answer). The CPU boards are really advancing fast but the
audio/video/capture stuff is moving like a snail :(
