Is there a way to have the video output come out in that mode? If so,
how do you set the PCM5822 to output in that mode? I am having the 
same problem with my wearable and a MicroOpticalCorp vga HMD where I
can not see the console but blindly login and startx to get to where 
I can see the display. I am guessing but probably SVGATextMode may
be the answer. I have not played with it yet.
