Re: Ok, palm keyboard, last time

You just need 4 lines connected
7 (HotSync) does not need to be connected

Description for attaching the keyboard is at
	http://www.iptel-now.de/HOWTO/SER_PALM_KBD/ser_palm_kbd.html
(there's basic code for reading data after toggling the RTS line there as
well). The RTS toggling with a 555 chip was just a temporary hack for the
iPAQ formerly - that's no longer necessary - nor is it for a PC where you
can toggle RTS easily.

http://www.thinkoutside.com (who make the keyboard) have a development kit
that you can freely download and that explains the key code sequences and
everything else.

You need a driver - for Linux this is done as part of the Linux console
project already.
	http://linuxconsole.sourceforge.net/
	http://www.suse.cz/development/input/
	http://www.doc.ic.ac.uk/~jpc1/linux/ipaq/serial.html
For Windows - you should have a look at the Twiddler1 drivers - they show
how input data is fed into the Windows keyboard queue.

btw:
A driver for WinCE on the iPAQ exists - which makes other devices "behave
like a Stowaway keyboard" a very attractive development option.

"Free software" is a matter of liberty, not price. To understand the
concept, you should think of "free speech", not "free beer".
