I asked Advantech's Embedded Group whether they were going to put the 582x board into a pc/104 form factor like Lanner, he didn't know, but they are working on a Transmeta based 2.5" board. > Subject: RE: upcoming products? Good question Bryan. I cannot help you at this time. Though Advantech is the manufacturer of all of our Single Board Computers, they are manufactured in Taiwan, and not in the United States. All of our R &D is in Taiwan as well. I have not heard of any of our new SBC taking on the PC104 form factor. Especially since the 5820 series is Pentium class. We have, however, begun to introduce a line of smaller formfactor (ie. 2.5") SBC's that will be utilizing the Tramsmeta CPU board. This is a board that will be utilizing its own CPU, but will be equivelent to (speed wise) a Pentium II-III. These boards use extremely low amounts of power. Please call us periodically so that we can give you updates to this progression. Tom Lum Sales Manager Advantech Technologies, Inc. Subject: upcoming products? I was wondering if you could comment on a possible near future product? Specifically, Advantech currently produces the PCM-5822. Lannerinc.com and in the USA, Lanner-usa.com produces a simliar product, the EM-350, both products have almost identical spcifications, chipsets used, and 3.5" drive size. Lanner recently announced the PC-2553, which is most of the same specifications in a PC/104 form factor. I am interested in a Mulitmedia SBC and have heard great things about advantech, and little about Lanner, and I was wondering if you knew of any plans that you could discuss about putting the PCM-5822 into a PC/104 form factor?
