Continuing on with the power comparisons, here's a chart with power
consumption for a bunch of Geode (MMX), Pentium (various), and the
ELAN 520 and MachZ boards with and without audio. If DSP Design is
right about DP400 it might be the lowest power multimedia solution
out there (x86 compatible) consuming 3.2 watts at 166Mhz . Lippert
Cool Runner looks good at 4.0 watts 200Mhz. Advantech is midrange
at 7.5 watts 200Mhz, but is still better than a lot of boards with
no audio onboard. On the high end Cell Computing PlugNRun is a
heavy power consumer (25 watts!). I don't know what Lanner is doing
but their numbers are very high for Geode based boards relative to
the competition. According to the specs I have gathered below the
TP400 and Cool Runner are pretty steep power competition to even
the AMD ELAN 520 based boards and MZ104. The power specs on both
ELAN 520 and MachZ are quite disappointing. Take all this with a
grain of salt because we don't know who is using conservative or
optimistic power specifications. Wish I could try battery tests
on all of them ...
