Carol: Ricochet, of all the players, was one of the more limited in scope of coverage. Others, such as CDPD, can claim a far larger coverage area. However, Ricochet offered useable speeds at a affordable all you can eat price (for wireless internet that is). As to national coverage, (and some of us do live in rural areas,) the only terristrial choice has been cellular amps with dial-up circuit switched modem. If you mean national in the sense of major cities, then CDPD will be your only fall-back, and that is 9600bps generally.
