RE: more than 1 IP address

There are a couple of packages out there. Devine is one
for Debian users. I've created my own for use with a
laptop, and wire bound LANs - not hard to create a list
of gateways and walk the list pinging each one.

For my wearable, I've been playing with arpping which
allows you to ping a MAC address. This should be useful
for probing for networks, since you don't need a valid
local IP address to use it.

It's easy enough to find a network once you know that
you need to look, but how should you handle multiple
LANs all at once through a single interface (such as
the case with roaming wireless [school, work, home])?
What's the best scheme for determining that you are
now out of range of a previously identified network
and now should probe for another? How should routing
be handled?

I'd like to have my wireless card be my primary interface,
but handle networks via my 10/100baseT, or my CPDP/GPRS
modem. I'd like to use them concurrently, picking the
best route based on connection speed and cost.
