RE: Cool Runner 2

I haven't checked out the power draw yet, but my Sony batteries last forever. I installed Win98 SE on an IBM Microdrive, loaded
Office 2000, played around with it and the battery was still kicking. I had it running on a Sony NP-F960 through a Datel DC
converter (5V) for 4.5 hours and there were no hiccups. I'm charging up that battery now, but I think I could have gotten another
hour out of it.

I have a USB touchpad attached to it, along with 1GB IBM Microdrive, 128 MB RAM, and the rest. I also have a dual PCMCIA pc/104
module attached to it. Everything is working like a champ.

The connections are very standard. However, if using this board to make a wearable, you might want to cut some of the plastic/rubber
around the USB cables and take off the plastic molding of the VGA and Serial ports.

I'm only testing with Windows right now. All drivers for this board can be found on the lippert site. I believe they have Linux
drivers for everything as well. Most of the embedded stuff is standard.

This board is much better than anything I have used before. The BIOS is well laid out and easy to turn things off. The built in
sound is very nice.

I will do testing on the power consumption next week.

The problem I'm having is the inability to boot into normal mode in Windows when I don't have the CD-ROM attached to the board.
Very weird. I thought it had something to do with the battery, but it only happens when I disconnect the cd-rom from the board. I
will do some more geeking around and let others know what it's about.

Zach

No I am not running it, but I've had my eye on it for months.
You are the first person I've heard of who is. Mind if I ask
you some questions?

What is your typical power draw and battery life?
Does it really draw 5.5 watts max?

How standardized are the connectors/cable headers?

Have you run into any compatibility problems with other
PC/104 or PC/104+ modules?

Have you tried linux on it? Were there any driver/support
issues?

I GREATLY appreciate any experience or advice you'd be
willing to share, since I've been saving up cash to buy
one of these boards for awhile now.
