So, this thread is a bit off topic, but for those who are interested here's the /. article about it being illegal to record police: http://slashdot.org/articles/01/07/14/0834224.shtml I think the gist was that in some states, making audio recordings w/o knowledge/consent was consdiered illegal wiretapping.
