Yikes, that is bad. For a while I was wishing I had gone with the
EM-350 instead of PCM-5822, now I'm glad I have the Advantech. I just
plugged in an Ampro dual PCMCIA PC/104 module into the PCM-5822 and
did another measurement. From the lowest point on the SBC (CF socket)
to the highest point on the PCMCIA card, it's almost exactly 1.5 inches.
That's still too fat for my likings but it's much better than EM-350,
especially since that measurement includes the hard drive (microdrive
in CF socket), it has two PCMCIA slots, and everything runs on five
volts. I still want to find an SBC no bigger than 4x6 inches length/
width and less than an inch thick with a single PCMCIA slot.

BTW I should mention that some people have said that their PC/104
PCMCIA modules were hitting the heat sinks on the PCM-5822 making
them unable to sit parallel with the SBC. This is not the case with
this Ampro PCMCIA card. It does hit the heat sink on the PCM-5822,
and it is slightly skewed, but is almost parallel with the main
board. I don't know what model this is though, because a friend gave
it to me, it doesn't list the model number, and it's probably a few
years old. I still think 1.5 inches is too fat :(

Is the daughter board stacked or can it be placed side-by-side via
cables? What connectors are on the PC-2553 itself? Is it useless
without the daughter board? Do you know the height of the PC-2553
and daughter cards? I am very interested in hearing how that setup
works for you. I also keep wondering if the Ampro enCore 500 can
do duplex audio, since it's the same footprint as PCM-5822 but
doesn't use MediaGX (however it's PC/104+ PCI expanson only). Some
time ago Jason said he had duplex audio working on PCM-5822. Can
anyone else say the same? Jason, did you do an audio rain dance,
sacrifice to the wearable gods, talk nicely to it, or what???
