There are +ve to -ve voltage convertors such as the ICL7660 which could
switch your +12v to -12v (might be worth checking Vmax, though).  They're
low current devices, not more than a few mA, and aren't regulated so the
output voltage will vary under changes in load.  However, if you're looking
for a couple of mA or less, they're small and cheap.
