Right.. all I'm really talking about is sending these codes.

You're getting ahead of me a bit.. I'm going to keep it simple this time and
basicly follow your design.  I'm not going to have 2 way comunications, just
1 way, from the Visor to the IR Decoder.  I've seen several programs for the
PalmOS that allow you to use the IR port as a universal remote.  I've used
one of them before to turn my VCR on and off.  It was fun but the range was
to short to make it worth while when I tried it.  That's not a problem for
this application.

No this is not using the full capability of the IrDA port on the Visor, but
like I said "it's a good start"  I think that if I have 2 or 3 menus that
control things like MP3's and email on the Visor, all of which are programed
to send out comon IR signals (That I would get from the universal remote) it
will still be very usefull and cool.  Not to mention keeping the complexity
down and allowing me to use your hard work instead of redesigning :)

Sounds like the $100 kit is the way to go then.
