I had the same problem and a 2cm VGA-cable basically fixed
it. It does not need to be perfect for just 640x480 grayscale,
you know...

As for the mount: Be carefull not to atach large, hard, weighty
  rectangular objects to a belt. I was wearing an MA-IV for a week
straight and my hips are blue (too little fat ;) ).

But the small CD-player-bag with my selfbuild system and
battery in it is lightweight and soft, so it does not have
this problem.
(I'm thinking about a foam-padding for the MA-IV and a knee-
atached bag for it's touchpad.)
