Maybe a dumb example, but you get the idea. When I said that your local storage would be a "cache" of your most frequently used data, I don't mean 8k bytes like an ARM CPU cache. I mean a few giga-bytes of data. I guess its really a hybrid compared to the local/remote paradigms. (I'm an Engineer and always looking for the optimum compromise!) I don't need to carry every photo that I've ever taken on a camera with me all the time, but I'd like access to them. I don't need to carry the source to every program that I've written in the last 20 years with me, but I'd like access to them. And I don't need to carry my entire record/CD collection with me, but I'd like change what songs I have locally. And I probably want all my e-mails from the last year. Hitachi claims that by Q2 2003 they will be shipping MMCs with 1 gig capacity. We fit an MMC card-connector between the connectors of our 2" square computers (the MMC slide between the CPU board and the IO board). You can have a 2" square computer with 1 gigaByte of storage, SVGA video out, USB ports for Twiddlers and such and 802.11 WiFi for under U$1000- about next summer (we're working on it now). And we'll be support CDMA 1x in the near future too! Is there anyone out there interested in such a beast? Brian ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Brian Empey, P. Eng.
