Cell phone text messaging is VERY popular - just not in the US. Alan's comment about using a Cell phone keyboard is valid. The issue I can see is tapping into the cell keyboard itself. Usually the data port on the bottom of the cell phone is for testing purposes only. Cables that "extend" the functionality of the phone and give you access to the modem/fax seem to be a fluky benefit of this test port. It is quite frustrating to have to carry a keyboard around when you have a perfectly good input device on your cell phone - but you don't have access to it. Also, while the T9 predictive typer is cool but I HATE IT. Ii just can't seem to get the keystrokes right in order to get the right words to come out. I learned how to effectively use the Twiddler faster! Having said that, I think the cell keyboard would be a nice compact keyboard for intermittent usage when you don't want to lug around a keyboard. So Brian, what kind of keyboard do you use with your rig? -Tony > -----Original Message----- > From: Brian Kuriyama [mailto:] > Sent: Thursday, August 14, 2003 1:32 PM > To:
