Hi Jennifer That's an idea with the TV out but from all my experience dealing with video cards in the past I'm yet to see one that gives a crisp clean TV output. Most of them had noise (even be it fine noise ) that didnt look that great on TV especially when looking at icons on the desktop or trying to read their titles. I'm not sure what kind of quality or TV out chip that board has but I dont believe it would be better than ones found in latest generation of gaming video cards. Playing video or watching images on most cards with TV out looks alright because there's alot of colour info to distract the eye from the embedded noise, though I feel that most people who want a wearable would like to have a decent display of text (something that does not strain the eyes and require staring at the text). All the above is while looking at a TV screen of 27"+; then what about a microdisplay thats only 1" in diagonal going through a set of lenses and being very close to the eye. The imperfection of the signal ought to be more pronounced (although I'd hope that someone might prove me wrong) in this combination but then again I do not know the specifics of your planned configuration (resolution of the desktop and the display) A VGA2NTSC converter might not be necessary if the HMD can receive direct RGB signal from the VGA...if only microdisplay manufacturers would let us have a few samples instead of requiring orders of 1000+ quantites, we could build some HMDs... Sorry if it looks as if I'm rambling, but I've spent some time researching all this because I'd like to make an "ultimate" wearable for myself (still searching for best parts...) regards, -pedja ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jennifer Pellinen" <> To: <
