I suppose although it is international i.e. open to everyone it kinda 
stays in the States because thats where its organisers are. There is a lot 
of wearable research in the UK, but I cant ever imagine it being held in 
the UK in a place like Nottingham or Loughborough (central UK) for 
example. Maybe you might be lucky next year and get your passport stamped 
with a European stamp if the users try and get more european involvement, 
I'm sure there are people out there who have interesting stuff written 
that would attend if it was held somewhere like the UK, but cant come 
because of economic reasons...
