Ok since you said "Please", I'll say "Yes" :) Joke aside, since you plan to use Linux then all your code will be within the bounds of C/C++ and I'm sure you'll be able to find a few projects out there that have already covered things you need done, so it'll boil down to putting everything together and getting it working.
