A few questions concerning using or finding cameras to use with a laptop based wearable system. 1) firewire camera's 2) CCD camera's 3) USB or other suggestions? 1) Using firewire camera's that get their power via firewire cable (which laptops do not support) Is there a way to split the cable and somehow provide power or are my only options to limit myself to firewire camera's that do have a dc power input of some sort OR use a pcmcia card that itself can take a dc power connection -- and then plug this up to a battery source? Just any general theories, ideas or resources would be much appreciated. 2) CCD camera's What options have people found for using CCD camera's. By in large they are cheaper camera's, smaller and there are a ton of different vendors and designs to choose from. If I'm not mistaken (which I prob. am) they typically have some RCA connectors or sht like that and... again, I can't plug a pci card up due to the fact that it is a laptop but I could purchase a pcmcia card for the purpose (though I have yet to find a vendor that sell's such a thing). I have s-video but I have the distinc impression that this is for video out from the laptop only. So is it PCMCIA adapter or bust? Are their external converts that would convert it to something else that would be easier to connect to the laptop with? 3) USB camera's and other suggestions? What do people actually use? USB is popular but I'm having trouble finding vendors.
