In it's current EVAL form, it is really only applicable to military/tactical applications as is fit is designed to be used with a standard PASGT Helmet. The display and electronics kernel are the same ones used in the Spectre (http://www.tekgear.com/product.cfm?sku=0066). 100's of the Spectres have been made and shipped so the kernels have been tested and work flawlessly. The M3 is designed for the tactical market - high res, narrow exit pupil, rugged. An industrial version is in the works right now: high res, wide exit pupil, comfortable universal fit mechanism <-that's the hard part, durable. The control module accepts VGA, SVGA, NTSC, PAL, and S-Video without the need for any other converters. An LVDS input is also being contemplated. The control module also has a 4hr onboard battery and accepts 6VDC if you want to use your own power solution. Pricing is not set yet. Pricing for the Eval as you see it on the web now is $7K. Delivery is on an "As built" basis. The industrial version is anticipated to be much more price competitive with next day delivery. As for the release date - when it is good and ready. We have not and will not be "pressing" this product until it is in stock and ready for purchase. I will be sure to post the product announcement on wear-hard as soon as it is available in order to keep everyone on the list informed of this new product. Remember that the M3 will qualify for the Technology Upgrade program. -Tony -- Subscription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with subject of "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" toWear-Hard Mailing List Archive (searchable): http://wearables.blu.org Please, *PLEASE* don't subscribe through a forward/expander/false domain
