If I'm not mistaken, mailman can do this. Not only that, mailman gives you mbox-style downloadable archives per month, which is great for people who like keeping archives (to be indexed by remem, perhaps?). I suppose there is a Very Good Reason why we're not using something like that. So, what is it? =) If it's simply because no one else can host it, I could try asking around - I don't have any servers of my own, but since we're relatively low-traffic, we might be able to find someone willing to host it for free.
