Also, your OS might turn on some  power-saving features to help keeping
it cool once it's loaded.

    Bingo.  I've seen this mentioned at hardware sites who note that testin=
g
    heat from the BIOS screen is actually about as good as testing the heat
    at full load.  That was the explanation they gave.
