ok here are those prices one more time straight from the sales email. sorry for my slight confusion earlier.. that's what i get for calling from work. PCM-5822-D0A1 (200MHz) pricing: $310/unit PCM-5822-G0B1 (300 MHz) pricing: $330/unit i am wondering how important is having TV output because besides that i see very few differences between PCM-5820 and PCM-5822 except $100 in price difference. i checked out the information the voltage regulators pretty much makes sense. anyone done any work with power management? i mean if you're running linux you don't really want your system shutting down all of a sudden. plus i could see the use for other normal laptop power management things like stopping the disks from spinning as much. seth thanks for the link. i saw that just couldn't find it in the online catalog. rick i have a magellan 315 i believe. they sell a serial cable for it, but the connection itself to the GPS is simple so i might wire one up myself. there are 4 contacts on the back of the GPS 2 are power and 2 are data. i am kind of excited about exploring the uses of a wearable while on the trail. packet radio might be an option for the future to try. i also live close enough to manhattan that it might be fun to go "war walking" i am sure i could find plenty of open 802.11b networks to keep me connected. thanks again for all your help. i will keep you updated on the progress.. it might be slow going for a few months as my cash flow is tight till the tax man cometh. if you get bored i would love to hear about your projects.
