Several, though I don't wear glasses.

First...a modular approach which puts only the display portion
actually on the glasses. By removing most of the bulk and weight,
it could be mounted on your glasses, without significant discomfort.

Second...if memory serves, most eyeglasses have interior (close
to the eye side) surfaces that approximate spherical. A mounted
light source (display, LED, whatever) could be placed on an
over-the-ear mount, and reflected off the inner surface. The
reflection should be more than bright enough to see, even with
uncoated glass lenses. A relatively small spot that is partially
silvered, would increase brightness by several orders of
magnitude.

Third...there's absolutely nothing tht says your display has to be
head mounted, and certainly not specifically on your glasses.
Look at other locations -- wristwatch display is another particularly
viable idea, as is a display that might "flip" down from the brim of a
hat.

I'd look into the Seiko Final Fantasy watch, or the Fossil PDA
watch (being discontinued in favor of a completely PALM
compatible system in wristwatch form, so it's incredibly cheap at
the moment) for wristwatch display platforms.
