Hi, Alan et al My understanding is that the Firewire interface, which was developed to allow fast transfer of huge low-res video files, achieves its speed in part by NOT doing any error checking. In a video file, it wouldn't matter much if a few bytes here and there are corrupted, but I wouldn't want to use this protocol for any other type of data file (i.e., text, Web graphic, even speech).
