i own a glasstron a35 that is ntsc and converted into a monocular (and paid alot less than that vr1...with similar specs, i found one with damaged audio on ebay and paid 175 us) which i run at 800x600 with extra large fonts and i think it looks pretty good!

the eyetop looks ok...but i think i can pack my glasstron down to something even less noticable then that...more to come :)
