I honestly have limited /experience/ but here's what I'd /like/ to use:

1. Wrist mounted qwerty keyboard: Like the WirstPC but more reasonably
priced. I don't need the thing to be indestructable... just splash
resistant.

2. Handheld trackball. Nothing major here. I can put it in a pouch
when not in use. (The rocker on the MA IV sucked.)

3. Minimal voice input. Alphanumerics, macro commands, and simple
navigation. Again, it doesn't need to be full dictation software, but
something I can use when I need my hands for other things.

Well... It'd be expensive but...

It would be nice to see a ring-like pointer that is tracked by a sensor
on the back of an HMD and could be configured so that you're pointing to
the virtual screen you're seeing. (I'd presume the ring would have an
IR LED and one or more buttons that would flash the click to the sensor.)

Of course, a cheaper wrist-mounted keyboard and a smaller voice input
system would be good. Yes I know the software is out there, but it's
much less userfriendly for the average user or else it's bloated.)

Remember, too, that even though *I* am a sysadmin, I'm still dreaming of
a wearable my luddite parents can use.
