Well, for example the spec says that the typical HCK cycle time is 166ns. 
Maybe if the micro had a lot of timer channels for the other signals it 
would be doable.  But it seems like most of the processing power of the 
micro would be dedicated to just generating the timing signals.  Then you 
have to generate a video signal.  So, I was thinking that the micro could do 
the video and the FPGA could do the timing.  Also, most of the pics dont 
have enough on-chip ram to have a video buffer.  Motorola just put out a 
80mhz version of the coldfire, but the setup is pretty expensive and most of 
the packages are BGA.
