Despite MicroOptical's claims that the SV-6 is 6-bit, it is rather less in practice. I think their "6 bits" is acheived by dithering, but the dithered colors don't look particularly good. Using the Gimp's color palette, I count maybe a dozen distinct, solid colors. This is true across various SV-6s, so it's not just one unit that's weird.
