Although having to refocus would be even worse, I don't think the
problem with a car computer is the display.  The problem is the
distraction.  With _any_ output technology -- video or audio -- the
more information you're trying to process the more distracted you're
going to be.

There are some reasonable applications of car PCs, such as acting as
glorified stereos and navigation systems, or logging telemetry or
vehicle diagnostic data for later use, or acting as full PCs WHILE
STOPPED, but trying to use one for driving for anything more
complicated than speaking driving directions or the like is stupid and
dangerous.
